Xu, Cang-Yi (1907 - 1969) His original name is Xing, with style name Sheng-An. Resident of Hangzhou, Zhejiang. He was engaged as an administrator of Zhejiang Culture and History Library. Graduated from Hangzhou County Second Primary School. Good at landscape painting. Used to work for Shanghai China General Commercial Bank as head of Hangzhou branch, Shanghai China Huacheng Tobacco as secretary of the general affairs department. Painting was his second job; he had been selling his paintings in Shanghai for over twenty years. After 1949, he became a member of Zhejiang Artists Association, and Hangzhou Artists Association. He was also a member of Hangzhou Calligraphy and Painting Club, specializing in Chinese painting study.
