Guo, Yi-Fang was born in Ganzhou, Jiangxi of the People's Republic of China
in 1953. He graduated in fine arts from Jiangxi Normal University. He has
been an art teacher, an art editor, and a professional painter. Also he
has been a member of the National Chinese Artists Association of China
and a vice chairman of the Chinese Painting Research Association in Jiangxi.
In 1990, he immigrated to the United States. Now he is a professional painter
and art designer, residing near Boston, Massachusetts.
For more than 20 years, he has devoted himself to Chinese painting, specializing in the modern methods of depicting flowers and birds. With years of traditional training in Chinese art, while drawing strengths from the Western way of painting, he burst onto the international arts scene, offering the world a modernized look into traditional Chinese art. His accomplishments include being the grand prize winner at the "1988 National Chinese Painting Competition in Hong Kong, Shenzhen"; receiving a masterpiece award in the "Zhonghua Cup National Chinese Painting Competition" in Beijing and presenting a solo Chinese painting exhibition in Boston, MA. in 1992. His paintings have been highly recognized by art experts and loved by many. Some of his work has been collected, not only privately, but also in Ba Da Shan Ren Art Museum, China; Bo Ya Art Company, Hong Kong; McDonald's Chin Company, Boston, MA, and New England Medical Center, Boston, MA. His work often appears in painting collections and various magazines, such as "An Album of Selected Paintings by the 20th Century's Outstanding Chinese Artists" (published in Beijing) and "Collection of the Prize Winners in Chinese Painting Competition in 1988" (published in Hong Kong). His name and biography appear in "Modern Chinese Painters" (published by Zhe Jiang People's Publishers);"Famous Present Chinese Artists" (published by the Chinese Literature and Arts Association) and "Artists of Chinese Origin in North America Directory" (published by the International Institute for the Arts in the United States).
